Mass Alliance Endorses Primary Winner Sonia Chang-Díaz for State Senate
(Boston)—Mass Alliance, a statewide coalition of twenty-one progressive organizations that advocate for issues from expanding access to health care, raising the minimum wage and protecting the environment, endorsed Sonia Chang-Díaz, the winner of the Democratic Primary for State Senate.
"Sonia Chang-Diaz is an incredibly hard-working candidate," said Georgia Hollister Isman, Director of Mass Alliance. "She won the Primary by meeting and listening to thousands of voters throughout the District at their doors and in their living rooms. We look forward to having her in State Senate, where we are confident that she will be precisely that kind of hard-working, attentive leader for progressive public policy."
"I am so proud to have the endorsement of Mass Alliance," said Chang-Díaz. "It's an especially meaningful one for me because I respect the work of the Alliance so much. They fight hard and smart for so many issues I care about—from education funding to affordable housing to civil rights to accessible health care. And they serve a critical function in the state: bringing together a diverse spectrum of progressive organizations around one table to collaborate on their agendas. With the help of the voters, I'm excited to work with Mass Alliance to advance this agenda come January!"
Hollister Isman also cited Chang-Díaz' experience and leadership on progressive issues. A former urban public school teacher and legislative aide to former Representative Cheryl Jacques, Chang-Díaz has worked on public policy issues like closing corporate tax loopholes, funding our schools, and making our electoral system more accessible for young people, new Americans, and low-income residents. "She has a wonderful combination of progressive values, experience, and strong ethics and accountability," she said.
