Seeking: Finance Director

The Sonia Chang-Díaz for Governor campaign is hiring a Finance Director to help power a progressive movement for bold, transformational change in Massachusetts.

  • Design, execute, and track the campaign’s overall fundraising strategy and program.

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive finance plan and portfolio of revenue streams for the campaign, including higher tier donors, call time, events, grassroots donors, and more. The program should maintain current revenue streams while pitching new and innovative ideas for raising money.

  • Guide development of the campaign budget, implementation, and goal tracking. 

  • Manage essential fundraising activities, including call time, digital fundraising program, event planning and execution, data entry, donor research, donor correspondence, donation pledges, and other finance-related tasks. 

  • Cultivate the candidate and campaign’s relationships with donors, individual contributors, allied organizations, elected officials in the state and nationally. Develop a plan for donor stewardship, including scheduling meetings with donors, facilitating donor communications, and completing follow-up meetings and calls. 

  • Recruit, train, and supervise fundraising staff. 

  • Develop a Finance Committee for the campaign. 

  • Manage relationships with fundraising consultants and other key stakeholders. 

  • Develop a plan for surrogates and staff of surrogates for fundraising events. 

  • Build on existing donor database by identifying, researching, and recruiting new donors.

  • Oversee thank you program for donors. 

  • Work with compliance vendors to ensure accuracy on finance reports. 


  • This is a progressive campaign. The ideal candidate will be excited to run an outside-the-box program that embraces grassroots donors and excitement while hitting fundraising goals 

  • 2-3 cycles of campaign experience with at least one cycle in a fundraising-focused position, preferred 

  • Demonstrated record of raising money for Democratic campaigns 

  • Experience running a statewide electoral fundraising operation is a plus, but not required
