Seeking: Organizing Director

The Sonia Chang-Díaz for Governor campaign is hiring an Organizing Director to build a progressive movement for bold, transformational change in Massachusetts.

The Organizing Director will oversee the campaign’s volunteer and voter contact programs. In this role, you’ll be responsible for all aspects of the organizing program, including hiring and supervising organizing staff and setting ambitious goals for your team. The ideal candidate for this job will be ready to run a modern, sustainable organizing operation focused on innovative voter contact, including relational organizing, digital organizing, and distributed organizing from the first days of the campaign.

Responsibilities 

  • Develop and implement an organizing program to accomplish the campaign’s voter contact and volunteer capacity goals

  • Write a comprehensive organizing plan to grow the number of volunteers and supporters

  • Supervise, lead, and evaluate organizing staff

  • Develop and manage field organizers, distributed organizers, regional organizing directors, and other organizing-focused staff and volunteers

  • In consultation with the larger team, develop an organizing philosophy for the campaign

  • Set ambitious organizing goals for volunteer recruitment & voter contact for your team and coach them to meet and exceed those goals

  • Oversee timely and accurate reporting and data in the organizing program

  • Collaborate with the senior leadership team to integrate the organizing program into all aspects of the campaign

  • Be responsible for overseeing voter contact scripts used in the organizing program

  • Propose new tactics and platforms to connect with volunteers and voters

Qualifications 

  • 3+ cycles of competitive campaign experience required

  • Experience recruiting, training, and managing staff

  • Sound understanding of field metrics and VoteBuilder/VAN

  • Commitment to organizing in communities of color

  • Excellent writing, copyediting, and proofreading skills

  • Positive attitude and ability to stay calm under pressure

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
