Sonia Chang-Díaz for Governor announces four new senior staffers

BOSTON, MA - Sonia Chang-Díaz’s campaign for Governor today announced the addition of four new senior staffers, hailing from top leadership roles on recent campaigns as well as government and advocacy organizations. The new hires include Chief Operating Officer & Senior Advisor Angela Brooks, Organizing Director Anthony Collins, Political Director Sam Hyun, and Finance Director Emily Neckes.

“I’m so proud to announce this team of movement builders, public servants, and community leaders,” said Chang-Díaz. “Angela, Anthony, Sam, and Emily have been powering progressive change in Massachusetts for years, and I couldn’t be more grateful for their commitment to my campaign. I look forward to building this grassroots movement with them all across our Commonwealth.”

Angela Brooks, Chief Operating Officer & Senior Advisor, is joining the campaign from Attorney General Maura Healey’s Office, where she served as the Director of the Children’s Justice Unit. She previously served as Chang-Díaz’s Chief of Staff in her Senate office and the Deputy Director of the Massachusetts Budget and Policy Center.

Anthony Collins is joining the campaign as Organizing Director. A veteran organizer on Massachusetts campaigns, he most recently served as Field Director for Kendra Hicks’ successful bid for Boston City Council. He previously held top organizing roles on Ed Markey's 2020 re-election campaign, Elizabeth Warren's presidential campaign, Ayanna Pressley's 2018 congressional campaign, and Michelle Wu's previous city council races.

Sam Hyun is joining the campaign as Political Director. Hyun has been a prominent voice in Massachusetts politics and movement organizing for years, recently serving as Chairperson of the state’s Asian American Commission and Communications Manager for the national organization Hate is A Virus. Previously, he served as Executive Director of the Korean-American Citizens League and as a Legislative Aide to former House Speaker Robert DeLeo.

Emily Neckes is joining the campaign as Finance Director. Neckes brings experience from  leading fundraising operations across Massachusetts for local, state, and federal races. She most recently served as Finance Director for Andrea Campbell’s campaign for Mayor, and previously served in key roles for Congresswoman Lori Trahan’s re-election campaign, Jesse Mermell’s campaign for Congress, and State Senator Becca Rausch’s re-election campaign.
